I love learning new things every day. Learning makes life enjoyable when constantly discovering new ideas and tricks. It is how I “seize the day” (carpe diem) and from that carpedmi was born. Also, it’s a nice little twist on my initials — “DMI.”

I have worked with technology in a variety of capacities, but really enjoy how technology can be used to fuel and foster creativity. For example, because I do the online ads as part of my job, I have been discovering the finer points of Adobe Flash. I work at a free local newspaper where I was involved in print for several years though my focus these days is the web. It’s nice being able to jump between the two worlds and understand what is needed for each to work successfully.

Also, I’m a very optimistic and passionate person. There’s a deep-seated desire to stretch the ol’ brain cells on a regular basis which generally has me throwing myself into a new project or endeavor which allows me the opportunity to learn. If you aren’t learning, you’re dying. Yes, I come across as a know-it-all at times as a result which can’t always be helped but, as someone on Twitter likes to quote often, “I know nothing except the fact of my ignorance.”

Besides design and technology I enjoy politics and am addicted to Twitter — the combination is exhilarating. The theory being that if you don’t like what is going on in the world, do something about it. It’s also amazing that talking with a good friend over a bottle wine allows one to solve the world’s problems.

My hope is that any tips and info provided here will allow you to carpe diem too.
